MEBP® massage

The MEBP® method, developed by Mélissa Boulanger, is a massage approach specifically designed for children and adolescents with special needs. It is based on a structuring, deep and reassuring touch, designed to respect each child's sensory, emotional and relational particularities.

The session takes place in a clear, predictable and reassuring framework. The massage is performed on the floor, on a futon, over clothing, to limit uncomfortable stimulations and promote a sense of security. A repetitive structure (ritual, order of gestures, visual and temporal landmarks) allows the child to anticipate what will happen, an essential condition for them to relax and engage in the session at their own pace.

The touch used favors adapted pressures, mainly oriented towards the proprioceptive system — the sense that informs the body of its position and limits. This stimulation helps the child better feel their body, anchor themselves and self-regulate. Gradually, the nervous system calms, tensions decrease and better availability appears, both physically and emotionally.

The MEBP® method does not seek performance or immediate results, but offers a space of regulation, trust and security, in which the child can gradually find more calm and balance.
